Best Dress-ed

I got this lovely little dress as a gift a while back from my best-friend. It's a great little floral dress, but it's a tad long, I think I have to hem it. Normally to take off some length I just put some extra fabric in the waistband, but I don't like how you loose the natural shape of the dress, so maybe I'll just use a simple basting stitch to bring up the hem a bit. Then it should fit just right! My Mom will probably advise me not to do so, but I think I'll just go for it! I don't think that anything will go wrong (Knock on wood). Soon you'll see a lovely little project of mine to exhibit why I won't mess up the dress :) You'll see what it is soon!

Winters White

Boots-Mom's(Vintage)/Pants-Delia's/Scarf-Gift/Hat-Claires/Top-Marshalls

These were taken last Wednesday if I am correct, and I hated what I was wearing that morning, it happens to me qiute often, but usually by the time I really get into the groove of my day the hatred passes. And it did! Not my favorite outfit by any stretch, but not bad either. It seems like a "weekend" outfit to me if that makes sense. Really, I do dress for myself and I would wear my prettiest things during the weekend, but I'd rather them be clean during the week, though often I end up wearing them during the weekend anyway.

Right On Target

I adored my set of photos today, though I tried to take them in various places, this one turned out to be the best!

Last week I took a trip over to Target and got a ton of bathing suits, and things for spring, this is one of my favorites. This little lovely dress is colorful and perfectly feminine, and I can't wait to wear it in the spring! Along with my other Target purchases! Actually I have to go back and return a few things and exchange another (The detachable straps were missing from a bathing suit) I'm still not sure about one of the pairs of shorts though, maybe I'll show them to you guys. They're beige and polka-dotted, but the fit is quite odd because, don't tell anyone but they're from the kids section, but they're supposed to be bermuda shorts:)

I am beginning to realize that quite a few colors are out of my comfort zone, brown, pink, and now orange! Though I've never been the biggest orange fan, I certainly don't hate it. In instances, it can be quite pretty, but I have to be in the mood to really wear it. Actually, I think I have more pink in my closet than I do orange. How odd, considering I'm on the anti-pink agenda. It's just too feminine for me. I mean, I'm a lot more feminine than I used to be, I used to cringe away from dresses! I was never exactly a tomboy though, but never a girly-girl. I guess I'm somewhere in between? I mean I've always loved clothes, apparently when I was 2 I dressed myself! Haha! I can picture the 2 year old me with all of her options! Actually though, I must admit I was a girly-girl in those days. I loved the color pink and wanted to be a ballerina when I grew up! Haha! I love reminiscing.
**If you happen to be wondering about the blurred corner, I put a plastic bad over my camera when it is raining, it must have been in the frame, whoops!

Highline

Hello there everyone. Last Sunday my family and I visited my relatives from Chicago who were in the city, we visited the Highline. It was lovely. I took quite a few photos, these are some of my favorites.
Lately I have been coveting a lovely fedora for the summer, found the perfect one at Target, score! And my dad showed me how to take black and white photos on my camera! Thanks Dad!
** This one I have to give photo credits to my Aunt Beth! Thanks!

Here is my dad, I thank him for being a subject on my blog. It looks like he is walking into the sunset.

Espadrille Experience

Sorry about the insane overexposure! As you may have guessed it was really sunny when I went out to take my pictures that day. I don't know what it is about this time of year, in the fall and winter this would have been the perfect time to take pictures, but I guess the sun is too high in the sky now...

Recently as you may have guessed I aqquired a pair of espadrilles (thanks Target!) They are possibly the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Ever. I would highly recommend them for any type of activity of any kind. If I come across another pair, I'll probably get them.
Last Saturday it was such a lovely day. It was probably about in the mid 50's, and I decided it was the perfect day to take a bike ride! Definitely need to get my tires filled, but since I was only biking a short while, it seemed to be okay for now.

100% Nylon

I got my Nylon in the mail the other day. Apparently I've always been a big magazine person. My best friend told me that when we were younger, she would just look through a magazine once, but I would look over every detail, and re-read the magazine a ton of times! I am still like that though, when I get a magazine in the mail, it makes my day! One of my favorites to read though is Nylon. It is filled cover to cover with interesting fashion ideas and picks, book reccomendations, good music choices, and other obscure things. Also they have fantastic photography, lovely models, and new emerging talents. It's such a fresh take on what magazines are usually like. They're usually just focused on what the latest trend is, how and where you can get it. That new take is just so refreshing. It actually takes me quite some time to fully read it. I don't think I've ever said that before. There is just so much material!

Undoubtably one of the best things is their choices in their covergirls. On most magazine covers you see the usual singers, and popular actresses(though they are lovely), month after month on a certian array of magazines you see the same covergirls being recycled, it's just so nice to have a change of pace. Instead of just having popular actresses, they have truely talented people with interesting perspectives. I once read in an article in the magazine where they described their perfect Nylon girl, the person they described seemed very... origanal, she just seemed to have her own thing, or lane if you will. I just really click with that magazine it seems

*Though many of the same coverstars are recyled, I'm just generalizing, sometimes there is a new covergirl in other magazines

Wardrobe Remix:Never Been Seen

I've had this little skirt in my closet for quite some time now. I've only worn it twice by unhappy coincidence. I never ended up posting the first one because of horrible lighting, I told myself I qould re-take the pictures, but I never got around to it, so here I am, posting pictures from last Wednesday 3/16/11, actually only a day away from when I first wore the skirt 2/15/11! How odd!
February:
I love being able to figure out what I did at the exact same time a day, a week or a month ago even! This may sound a little ridiculous, but I have one day a year when I figure out what I was doing exactly a year ago before. November 11th, at 9:10 in the morning. A few years ago I was looking at the clock and just decieded spontaneously on this date, and I guess it stuck.

March:
I definatly like the first way I wore this better, though these photos have a head and shoulders above, better quality. Oh well, maybe next time I'll get it right.
When I wore this, I almost got too hot wearing boots! Yes! I'm so excited for spring! Technically, today is the first day of spring, and it snowed. For the first time in almost a month. Ironically on the first day of spring, how odd.

Shades Of Brown

I picked up this lovely little shirt with peacock feathers all over it quite some time ago at Marshalls, I've been putting off wearing it due to the trouble I've been having styling it. I just don't wear a ton of brown I guess. Black is much more of a prominent color in my wardrobe, and it is much easier to style. I just have a lot of trouble styling brown, even though now that I think about it, most of my shoes are brown. Brown used to be much more common in my wardrobe, now the number of pieces has dwindled and I don't really care for replacing them.

Just the other day I was reading over at Time Enough For Drums the other day and she mentioned the she never feels quite right wearing certian colors, for her it's navy, but I just have a thing with brown... My automatic first though was pink, but I do actually like pink in certian instances, and I'm sure if I wore it more often, it would easier to style, but I surely don't have an adversion to it. Now that I think about it, I don't own too much navy either. I think I may have a navy top or two, then that's it. Hmmm, never even realized.

One Week Later

This photo was taken one week ago today! Well, not exactly so, a few hours off, but not bad timing. Only one photo today, the rest of them turned out ridiculous (Hair poufing in the back) akward posing...etc... Well anyway, enjoy! I hope to post again soon!

Breaking Through the Clouds

*These were taken last Friday

It is so lovely out right now. Yesterday I wore shorts, it was such I beautiful day (About 70 degrees)! I hope all the days from now on turn out that way, I actually think it's supposed to be in the 40s this weekend, but a girl can dream. Amazing I know, I didn't get around to taking any outfit photos but here is what I wore. My trusty Minnetonka moccasins (I think you guys know what those look like), this tank top, this cardigan, and a pair of plain blue denim shorts which I have yet to find anywhere in my archives, oh well.

Well, yesterday I took a trip to target, and got quite a few lovely things, a couple of pairs of shorts, one of which the waist needs to be tapered, and another one that is so fantastic, I can barely stand it! I also got a few suits, it ends up the I have to return one, and exchange another, and get a different bottom for one. I guess it happens though. Altogether a lovely trip and I'm excited to wear everything in the spring!

When I wore this, I thought it might be to warm for the day. Though when I took these photos it was raining quite a bit, it cleared up by the end of the day, and all of the humidity was gone. Score.

Quantity or Quality?

Why do I follow so many blogs? Not jsut a few, but I follow mass amounts. Though I do have my favorites, I still follow 40 or somewhat blogs, but I asked myself why? Maybe it's because I personally need to work from an inspiration source and I need to know other peoples perspectives before I can fully decide something. The 40 or somewhat blogs I follow all have very similar perspectives but very different ways of interpreting it.

I must go, I will continue writing this later.

Fair Maiden

Did my hair in Maiden Braids last Tuesday. It has been something I've been itching to try for quite sometime. But my A. Lack of patience and B. Not knowing how to do them, hindered me. Then I saw a lovely little hair tutorial on one of my favorite blogs, A Beautiful Mess, who has so many lovely tutorials, DIY projects, and other pretty things and I highly suggest you visit.

Tadah! I never really have the patience to style my hair (that's why I never straighten it!) so this is pretty monumental for me. These only took me about 5-10 minutes though, score!

A few days ago someone asked me if I have any floral tights, and I do, so here you go. Actually I have two pairs. But very often I get really into 1 or 2 pairs of tights and I just wear them for a few weeks and that's it. These actually are some of my favorite tights though. And I haven't worn them in ages! Everytime I wear them I'm afraid I'm going to rip them because I've had them for 6 months and worn the hell out of them (believe it or not). Actually I found out the the store Delias has these same exact tights now! Along with the other color I almost got. Maybe I'll get them when then go on sale, this pair and the other. The other pair is hot pink, red, yellow, orange, and green, just as amazing! I just felt that I would get much more use out of the blue ones due to an extreme lack of pink in my weardrobe (pun intended)

Thank you for all the comments lately! I appreciate them all!

Stayin' Alive

These photos were taken on a Monday***

These were taken on such a windy morning! My hair was blowing everywhere, and it was freezing! All the snow is gone though, due to such a rainy week, I think it rained about 3 times this week! And one day it poured. So odd, something non-frozen falling from the sky in large quantities. I'm pretty sure you all heard by now what is happening in Japan. I feel so selfish blogging when there was an 8.9 earthquake with a 30 foot tsunami, and here I am blogging. I guess all I can really do is hope and pray for all of those who have been effected in the tsunami and hope that all of the visitors in Japan come home safely. The only way that people can directly help is to donate money to some of the organizations mentioned Here. Though Japan was effected the most sharply, there were also large earthquakes and tsunamis in places like Hawaii,  and there were more minor ones along the coast of South America, Alaska, and California. But for now, I guess you can just do your part in the disaster relief. I hope that if you have any loved ones in all of these places they are safe, and alive.

A For Effort

Ah! It's been all week since I've posted! I'm so sorry everyone, it has been insanely busy, and I just haven't had the time. Actually this was from last Friday/Saturday. I wore it twice because I had intended to wear it somewhere on Friday, then I found out it was the wrong day. Whoops. These photos in turn, were taken on Saturday, I took a set on Friday too, but these turned out perfectly! The lighting is great, and almost all of my photos turned out well!

Hmm, I just realized something. I never say the word "photos" in reality. I always say photos here though, never pictures. Maybe it's because when speaking aloud you can tell the context in which a word should be in and pictures, to me personally has several different meanings, it could mean artwork, actually in the 20's it meant movies, but photos are just photos. Nothing else, no other definitions. Actually, that is a lie, there are other definitions, but they are just more complex ways to describe the word.

You may not know this about me, but I have a love for comically big or ironic words (if it's both double thumbs up!). I love words like quintessential, and helenmonstreakophobia, which means the fear of cupcakes. But my all time favorite is... (Wait for it, it is a mouthful!) hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, the fear of long words. A short while back I learned the longest word ever. Literally, I think it is some sort of medical term, maybe I'll share it with you sometime.

My lovely little moccasins, one of my favorite things in the world. It may sound really shallow that one of my favorite things is a pair of shoes, but really I just love all things that fall in to that najavo/American Indian catagory. Everything is so beautiful from their culture. I think that it is so sad that their entire culture just got knocked out when the Europeans came over. All the treaties made were broken, the only valid American Indian treaties are the ones that are active today.
